These last couple of quilts I've done have turned out really well, and I don't feel like I'm being too egotistical saying that. They both been commissioned quilts, and in both cases, the customer chose the fabric and the pattern that they wanted to use. I was merely acting as the assembler.
I've already heard back from the customer who commissioned the Later, Alligator! quilt, and it put a huge grin on my face to hear that she loved it! In the meanwhile, I've been working on the second custom quilt, and managed to take just about a day to finish it. Because it's such a quick project, and I've made this pattern so many times, it sews up really quickly for me, and thus, I don't have many in progress pics! Here's one shot of it as just a quilt top:
And a couple of shots of it all quilted up!
I've really got to thank both of these customers for choosing such great fabrics for me to play with! I also really have to thank Jodi over at Pleasant Home. She's the genius designer of this particular pattern (which is available over at Moda Bake Shop). She's incredibly generous to share her great ideas with the world, and she's even cool with folks like me using the pattern for quilts to sell. It's something that she addresses in this post, where she also shares a great tablerunner using these same pinwheels! I see a new tablerunner (on my own table!) in my future.... :)
So giving credit where credit's due - my amazing customers (who have a great eye for fabric!) and to Jodi Nelson for the pinwheel awesomeness, and to Alex Anderson for Later, Alligator! - Thank you!!!!
