Under construction.

Our yard is a mess.  A big, fat mess.  But that's ok - it's definitely going to be worth it.  As I've mentioned before, we're in the middle of having a pool built, and it can't be done fast enough!  Luckily, the construction process has gone very smoothly, and ahead of schedule.  But we can't really do any other yardwork or get it cleaned up and put back together until it's really DONE, so we're stuck looking at a mess for another couple of weeks.
Murphy has been diligently inspecting every aspect of the construction process...
For those who haven't built a before, you have to spray down the pool every 2 hours for 4 days to keep the shell from curing too quickly.  In case you're wondering, you do feel pretty dumb "watering" your pool.  Just FYI.

We've got grand plans for what will go out here when it's all put together - a patio area next to the pool with a changing area, and built in planters and benches, an outdoor kitchen, and grass that's finally under control.  For now, it's all in the planning stages, and it will take quite a while to accomplish, primarily since we're going to try to DIY as much of it as possible.  (Of course I try to DIY everything!  Buy a blanket?  Heavens no!  Cut a lot of perfectly good fabric into little bits and resew it into a blanket! Yeah!)

In the meanwhile, I guess I'll have to pass the time sewing!  I've finally gotten the Later, Alligator! quilt all done and ready to go to its home.  It will get a post of its own, and I know I've shown a bunch of sneak peeks before, so here's another sneak peek of the finished product!

Today's plan is to get to work on another UFO - unless I have a package in my mailbox, that is.  I'm expecting some fabric for another custom quilt, so that will jump to the head of the line if it's there.  Otherwise, it's UFO time for me.  My motivation to get these things knocked out is to be able to get to all of the fall and Christmas themed projects that are swimming around in my head!  It's images like this of the holidays that are keeping me going through the hot and stuffy summer months...
