Off to a good start!

I'm officially in sabbatical mode!  I guess you could stay that technically it started as soon as I walked out the office door Friday afternoon, but it feels more real today, since it's a Monday and I get to stay home!

I had a fabulously productive weekend, finishing a quilt, piecing another top, binding off a table runner, and even making a couple of impromptu pie/casserole caddies!

I had this top pieced and ready to go, so I just had to quilt and bind it:

This is my broken dishes quilt using La Petite Ecole.  I have no idea what line the binding is from, but is is luscious.  It's an incredibly soft and silky fabric, and I love, love, love it!

I had this table topper quilted up, and just had to bind it:

This one used Seasonal Little Gatherings, and I particularly like it as a holiday fabric because it can really bridge the gap between Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Sure, it has Christmas-y things like pine boughs and candy canes, but the patterns are so subtle that it doesn't scream Santa Clause at ya.

I got this top completely done - cutting, piecing, borders - between Saturday and Sunday:

It uses Hideaway, which is such a fun little line.  It's made from just one charm pack, and I threw on a border for good measure.  I've got the back pieced and ready to go, so it's probably next to be quilted.

Last, but not least, hubby and I were invited to a friend's for dinner, and my assignment was to bring two pies.  While they were cooling, I found myself really wishing that I had something to carry them in.  A little looking around Pinterest, and I found this great tutorial on how to make a very simple casserole or pie dish caddy.  This is how mine turned out:

It's a bit rough, because I was rushed, but they work awesomely!  Sure, there are threads everywhere, and the raw edges aren't turned under where I sewed the little loops on, but I'll be hanging onto these for personal use, so I don't mind much.  Plus, I've had this fabric in my stash for a while, and I'm glad to finally be able to get it put to use - I just love it!

So there we go - super productive, and we're just getting started.   On my WIP list for this week - I have about 5 quilts that need to finally get quilted, including all of these:

Fa La La La Road to Tennessee

Tons of mug mats!

Two separate quilts using these strip tube pieced blocks in Prairie Paisley

This table runner (which is now actually all pieced)

And these three table runners, which have been sewn into blocks, but need to be sewn together into tops

Charm Pack quilt featuring Cape Ann
Holy cow - it's gonna be a busy week!
