Pinning through the seasons

It's still stinkin' hot here in Arizona, but I need to find a way to get myself excited about the upcoming holidays!  October is just a few days old, and I'm itching to get some fall decor up in and around my house.  Problem is, my house feels a little bare when it comes to decor, in general.  I've got a few knick knacks here and there, but I don't feel like my home is decorated.

Part of the problem is that we have a new build house, and even though we've been here for a couple of years now, it still has that slightly sterile feel to it.  I've been feeling more and more lately that I need to make an effort to get this place feeling a bit more homey, and I figure a little more effort through the holiday season is a good start.

Where does a modern gal go for inspiration along these lines?  Well, duh - Pinterest!  So, as a bit of a feature through the next few months, I'm going to be talking about the process a bit.  I'll be showing off how some Pinspiration is helping to literally deck my halls!

So, where to start?  Well, since it feels like fall has yet to arrive, I'm going to make sure that it feel welcome when it gets here.  Time for a fall wreath!

My Pinspiration for this project:

A Thanksgiving Wreath from Pacific Mutual Door:

The Pumpkin Patch Wreath from Williams Sonoma

The Purple and Brown Fall Wreath from A Pumpkin & A Princess

Pinecone Wreath at Ucreate:

A Felt Rosette Wreath by Little Things Bring Smiles

So what did all this Pinspiration yield for me?

This new wreath for my front door!

I ultimately decided to go with a bit of a simple approach, using a grapevine wreath, a little moss, and just a few fake gourds/pumpkins.  Not the best of pictures, but here it is!

I feel like I've kind of gotten over the hump, and I'm starting to get in the groove!  Next up might just be some pumpkin bread to get this house smelling like fall!
