Well, apparently, hugs are needed all around.
I've been able to work pretty diligently through the Star Surround, and kept up most of the way through. And then it struck. The dreaded summer cold.
It seems to hit every year, and this year it hit my hubby first. Now, he's a big boy - despite the fact that his number one medicine for any kind of illness is a marathon of Phineas and Ferb episodes - so he doesn't need me to take care of him night and day, just for a cold. But on the other hand, it throws everything in the house off.... and then, of course, I catch the cold too.
So while hubs needed a hug, and then I needed a hug, these poor little stars were naked, and without the embrace of the surround they were supposed to get.
While I stayed home sick, I managed to get some of the units sewn for the surrounds.
This is always the point in a project where I start to get itchy to see the end result. Even though chain piecing is definitely the most efficient way to go about constructing this quilt, I had to sneak some pieces out of the pile and make one whole block. Up on my design wall, it serves as great inspiration to get the rest done!
Then, during the Labor Day Sew In, I went full speed ahead! I finished the rest of the surrounds, got the blocks constructed, and got them all together in a top!
Now, I need to buy some backing fabric and get it ready to quilt, but I have some trips coming up, so I'm afraid that may have to wait a few weeks. I'm just glad to be all caught up!
